Collective Breathing. Drawing workshopSomerset House, London

In two days drawing workshop at Somerset House as a part of a public-facing event in February 2020, Jayoon reimagined drawing as an embodied practice, where respiration and silence deepen creative perception. She challenged the prevalent view of drawing as a process limited to seeing, cognitive processing and execution through the eye and hand alone.

Over the course of three hours, Jayoon provided loose guidance to the participants. The instructions were simple: sit in silence by the paper, no music allowed, observe their bodily presence, let the drawing unfold naturally, and engage with others through silent drawing. It aimed to cultivate an instinctive connection with oneself, others and the surrounding world, allowing these discoveries to emerge through an intuitive creative process.
